DeKalb, Ill. — The Friends of NIU Libraries group invites the public to attend an evening with science fiction writer Sarah Monette.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, in the Hearthside Room of the Ellwood House Visitor Center, 509 N. First St.
Attendees can expect Sweet Dreams desserts and a lively discussion with Monette about her book “The Bone Key,” the March selection for the DeKalb Public Library’s Destination Wonder Science Fiction Book Club.
Monette is an American novelist and short story author writing mostly in the genres of fantasy and horror. Born and raised in Oak Ridge, Tenn., she earned a Ph. D. in English literature, specializing in Renaissance Drama and writing her dissertation on ghosts in English Renaissance revenge tragedy.
Monette’s short stories have appeared in numerous venues. Her 2005 novel, “ Mélusine,” and its 2006 sequel, “The Virtu,” won starred reviews in Publisher’s Weekly and Booklist and places in Locus’s Recommended Reading lists.
