Years Employed:
• Student Assistant: 1990 – 1991
• Associate Producer: 1991
• Graduate Assistant: 1992 – 1994
What are you doing now:
I am the Assistant Commissioner/Electronic Media, Mid-American Conference. My duties include supervision of production of all TV/radio PSAs; liaison for FSN, ESPN, ABC Sports for all MAC TV telecasts; and setting the direction and implementing the vision for the MAC Web site.
Fond memory of Media Services:
I always cherish my memories of working at Media Services, from the football trips to Toledo (yellow jackets) to shooting the black choir or moot court. There is no doubt that I would not have had the experiences I have had in life if not for the foundations laid here at NIU Media Services.
How Media Services employment helped your career:
Media Services helped me in so many ways. I gained world experience by traveling throughout the country shooting football and basketball games and learning about other college campuses and their histories. I was given an opportunity to improve my personal skills (e.g., people skills, shooting and production skills, honing voice talent and my on-camera presentation skills). Finally, I received management and training opportunities. Within six months of working at Media Services, I was able to supervise train and a staff of six student workers shooting football coaches' tape. There was also the training opportunity I had "learning the ropes" under Jay Orbik and Brad Hoey, and also working with "the smartest man in the world," Raj Chohan.
