Years Employed:
• Student Worker: 1998 – 2000
What are you doing now:
I currently manage two television stations for the City of Lake Forest, the practice hometown of the Chicago Bears. As the manager, besides completely running both channels, I still am able to fit shooting and editing into my daily routines. Prior to working for Lake Forest, I was a producer for the Mount Prospect Television for five years. Since graduating from NIU in 2000, I have worked for the Chicago White Sox, The United Center, Elmhurst Television, Comcast, The Kane County Cougars, and the Village of Hoffman Estates.
Fond memory of Media Services:
Traveling with the NIU football team to Auburn, Northwestern, and Marshall; shooting football practice video during a downpour on the lift; traveling alone with the basketball team to Buffalo. One thing about Media Services that I really enjoyed over the years is how we have progressed. We went from no video at football and basketball games to state-of-the-art video production facilities at our brand new Convocation Center and Huskie Stadium. Being a part of those crews and getting the primo slow mo replay shot that makes the crowd go wild is probably my greatest ongoing memory of our crew, and is the most gratifying part of this field.
How Media Services employment helped your career:
Initially, Media Services, and specifically Brad Hoey, taught me the basics of video production, and video production in the context of sports. Since then, my Media Services experiences have taught me immensely about not only the technical aspects of video, but also how to troubleshoot in the field during unforeseen circumstances. My colleagues who I have met over the years through Media Services have provided me with long lasting friendships, as well as a network of people with whom to collaborate and work with in solving media-related issues.
