SPECIAL NOTICE

Course Completion Cards:
The Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety, Cycle Rider Safety Training Program (CRSTP), has set a new policy on the distribution of completion cards for all rider education courses conducted by the four Regional Centers. That policy is:

Course completion cards will no longer be given out by Instructors at the end of a course. Course completion cards for persons successfully completing a Basic Rider Course (BRC), Experienced Rider Course (ERC), Intermediate Rider Course (IRC) or any other approved motorcycle rider education course conducted by the four Regional Training Centers must be distributed by mail after each students course information has been entered into the data base system. Students completing a course with a passing grade will have their completion card sent within 30 days from the last day of the course.

Course Times:

*The Motorcycle Safety Project is trying to provide more Basic Rider Courses for the public in the early part of the training season. To do so, we are doubling our courses at the training sites that can accommodate the classroom and facility needs to accomplish this goal.

To be able to make this increase in course offerings we have had to make some scheduling adjustments for what we refer to as “Back to Back” courses. This means the course will start as usual on Friday evening at 6 PM with two groups of 12 students each, (an AM group and a PM group) 24 in all for the first classroom session. Then the groups will participate at different times for Saturday and Sunday to complete the training. The times for each group will be as follows:

  1. Weekend AM BRC Courses: 6-10 PM classroom Friday evening;

    Saturday and Sunday
    7 AM to 1 PM on the range (motorcycles)
    1 to 2 PM Lunch
    2 to 4 PM Classroom

  2. Weekend PM BRC Courses: 6-10 PM Friday; 10 AM - 7 PM

Saturday and Sunday
10 AM to 12 PM (noon) Classroom
12 to 1 PM Lunch
1 to 7 PM on the range (motorcycles)

Registration for all Experienced Rider Courses will begin in March of 2010. Please check back for more information. You must be a qualified licensed rider to register for the Experienced Rider Course. Click here for more information regarding the ERC.

*NOTE: Rider education courses conducted by the Northern Illinois University Motorcycle Safety Project on military installations may be restricted or canceled as dictated by possible increases in security requirements.
