About the NIU Motorcycle Safety Project

Free motorcycle rider training classes offered throughout Illinois are a part of the Cycle Rider Safety Training Program. Courses are administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety, Springfield, Illinois, and supported by Public Act 82-649, the Cycle Rider Safety Training Act. The Illinois Department of Transportation makes these courses possible with funding provided from a portion of Illinois motorcycle registration and driver's license fees.

This site provides information on the Cycle Rider Safety Training Courses at Northern Illinois University (region A on the map to the right). For information on the courses in regions B, C or D, contact the Regional Training Center for the region. Click or call your regional center for information on courses in your area.
