The Future is Female
The Latino Resource Center's De Mujer a Mujer: Latina Assistance Program, in collaboration with E.B.O.N.Y. Women, S.I.S.T.E.R.S. and Ladies of Distinction will be hosting its seventh annual Women’s Empowerment Conference on Saturday, April 7, 2018, in the NIU Holmes Student Center, Sky Room from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. This year's conference these is will focus on:
- Providing young women of color with personal and professional development needed to succeed in college.
- Cultivating the leadership skills that will prepare young women of color for the working world.
- Educating women of color about the importance of maintaining their cultural heritage and well-being.
This conference focuses on providing social support, academic guidance, and leadership opportunities that foster self-confidence, self-awareness, self-esteem, and increase the retention and graduation rates of women of color at the high school and college level. Although this conference was designed to promote services specific to the needs of Latinas, all female college and high school students are welcome to attend.
We would also like to thank our sponors, the Center for Black Studies and the Student Association for helping to make this conference a success.
There is no cost to attend the conference.
If you are under the age of 18, you must submit a parent persmision form in order to attend the conference.
You will need to complete your registration in one sitting, as you will not be able to save the registration and return to complete it later. Registration is open, sign up today!

Substitutions of registrants may be made, without penalty, anytime prior to the program’s commencement. However, if you do not have a substitute of registrant, we ask that you cancel at least one week (March 30, 2018) prior to the conference date to allow other students on the wait list to be able to attend.
What to Wear
All participants should wear business casual attire to the conference.
The conference will take place in the Holmes Student Center (Sky Room) at NIU’s main campus. Holmes Student Center is located at the corner of Normal Road and Lucinda Avenue. The Sky Room is on the 16th floor. View our interactive 3D campus map or get directions to DeKalb.
Free parking is available parking lot 5, which surrounds the Campus Life Building, 545 Lucinda Avenue (corner of Lucinda Avenue and Normal Road). Spaces designated as reserved, pay station are not available.
If you have a state issued handicapped license plates or placard may park in any designated handicapped parking space at parking lot 5.
