The mission of "Colegas" is to serve and provide a welcoming environment for incoming first year Latino students and assist them in their transition to college life.

De Mujer a Mujer
Latina Assistance Program

The mission of "De Mujer a Mujer" is to provide support that will increase the retention and graduation rates of Latinas at Northern Illinois University by providing programs, activities and leadership opportunities that foster self-confidence, self-awareness, and self-esteem.

Goals:

  • Establish a positive and professional support network for Latinas.
  • Promote education, career, and personal development.
  • Increase cultural and gender role awareness among participants.
  • Encourage women to be active and productive members of the community.

S.O.L.
Supporting Opportunities for Latinos

The mission of S.O.L. is to offer and promote programs specific to the needs of Latino men.  It is a student group that emerged to meet the needs of Latino males.

Goals:

  • Provide personal support.
  • Offer academic guidance.
  • Promote leadership.
  • Enhance the quality of Latino student life.
