Purpose:

Mentoring for Academic Success (M.A.S.) is a program that provides welcoming environments for first year Latino students and assists them in their transition to college life. This is accomplished through social events that help acclimate first year students to the Latino Community at NIU. In addition, educational and study workshops offered to facilitate a smooth transition to a four-year institution. Benefits to participation include learning about resources and opportunities at Northern Illinois University, attending educational, cultural and social events that are provide by the different resource centers and organizations on campus as well as meeting other students who are going through the same experiences.
