Davidson serves as the chief legal advisor for Northern Illinois University and leads a formidable legal team that provides guidance and representation to NIU trustees, administrators, and employees regarding official university business and operations.
University Legal Services provides a wide range of services to the university community, including advising on such issues as regulatory compliance, risk management and preventative practices, providing professional training, reviewing and developing policies and procedures, preparing and reviewing university contracts, and representing the university before administrative agencies, as well as in state and federal court.
This website provides links to important university polices and other information regarding legal issues affecting Northern Illinois University and the higher education community. Faculty and staff with legal questions that are outside the scope of their employment with the university are generally not eligible to receive services from University Legal Services. Likewise, University Legal Services cannot provide legal guidance or representation to employees who have claims adverse to the university.
