Clery Act Report: Safety and Security on Campus

Northern Illinois University has the advantage of being located in a smaller city with lower crime rates than more populous communities.  But even in this relatively secure environment, people must act responsibly to ensure their own well-being.  This report is intended to heighten awareness of safety issues and support continued safety at NIU.

Sex Offender Information

All sex offenders in Illinois are required to register with the Illinois State Police.  The Illinois State Police makes the identity, photograph, and address of registered sex offenders available to the public on the Internet through the Sex Offender Registration Database.   If you are concerned about the presence of sex offenders on or near campus, you may search the database for either the presence of sex offenders near an address, or for the address of a particular sex offender.

Northern Illinois University does not collect or maintain the information contained in these databases, and cannot guarantee that the information is current, complete or accurate.

The information on this page is provided per the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crimes Statistics Act.
