Responsibilities of the General Counsel: Reporting to the President, with suitable assistance from professional and operational support staff, provide competent, timely legal representation, counsel, advocacy, research, policy development, document drafting, integrity compliance, incident examination, risk management coordination and related or assigned service to the University President, Northern Illinois University Board of Trustees, administrative officers, faculty, staff and committees to facilitate, foster, protect and advance institutional mission accomplishment consistent with traditional academic interests and applicable state and federal legal standards.
