DeKalb, Ill.--Northern Illinois University College of Law welcomed the Illinois Second District Appellate Court on February 17, 2015.  Students observed the oral arguments in the criminal case of People of the State of Illinois v. Frederick Hampton and in the civil case of IN RE THE MARRIAGE OF Catherine Shuff and Thomas Shuff held in NIU Law's Francis X. Riley Courtroom.

Following the arguments, the Justices enriched the learning experience for the students by engaging them in a general question-and-answer session on appellate practice. The Justices emphasized the importance of being prepared and professional. Afterwards, the College of Law hosted a reception for the justices and members of the NIU Law community in the Thurgood Marshall Gallery.
