In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Northern Illinois University College of Law’s Zeke Giorgi Legal Clinic hosted the 14th Annual Shining the Light on Domestic Violence Ceremony on October 28, 2015. Circuit Court Judge Rosemary Collins, chair of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court’s Family Violence Coordinating Council, presided over the event. The council honored the work of long time domestic violence advocate Andrea Carlson, who is the coordinator of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court’s Family Violence Coordinating Council.

The event concluded with a candlelight vigil to mourn the loss of thirty-nine adults and three children who were killed as a result of domestic violence related incidents in Illinois between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015.
