James F. McCluskey ('79) Elected Third Vice President of
Illinois State Bar Association

James F. McCluskeyNorthern Illinois University College of Law alumnus James F. McCluskey (’79) was elected third vice president of the Illinois State Bar Association. McCluskey is now in succession to lead the largest bar organization in the state with over 33,000 members in June 2018.

A founding partner in the law firm Momkus McCluskey, LLC, in Lisle, IL, McCluskey concentrates in commercial litigation and has more than 35 years of practice experience. He has been an active member of the ISBA. McCluskey, elected secretary in 2013, was first elected to the Board of Governors in 2009, and re-elected in 2012. He previously served as a member of the ISBA Assembly and was chairman of its Agenda and Program Committee, and has served on its Civil Practice & Procedure Council and its Allerton House Committee. In 2011 and again in 2014, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Illinois Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the ISBA.

McCluskey has been active in several other state and local organizations including the DuPage County Bar Association where he served as its director, general counsel and president. He is also a past president of the DuPage County Bar Foundation, and current member of the Justinian Society and American Inns of Court and The Rotary Club of Naperville. He was recently appointed to the Supreme Court Committee on Professional Responsibility.

The 33,000-member ISBA, with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public through a website (, consumer brochures, and distribution of legal information.
