NIU College of Law Student Miranda Hernandez Featured in FLAP Field Report

November 11, 2016

Third-year NIU College of Law student Miranda Hernandez was interviewed for the Fall 2016 edition of the FLAP Field Report, the official newsletter of the Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project. Hernandez is currently working on an externship with the project during the fall semester.

When asked about how her externship has affected her understanding of the legal system, Hernandez said, "My externship at FLAP has humanized the abstract legal principles I've learned in law school. FLAP’s clients have the ability to seek justice through the law, yet what often remains a hardship is their immigration status, which is what makes them so vulnerable to exploitation."

Hernandez also serves as the president of the NIU College of Law Student Bar Association.
