Use EFI Printing:

1. Send an email with your attachment to
-- you will receive a 6-digit code to be used to retrieve your document.
2. Walk to the Print Station in the middle of the hallway leading to the North Wing of the Law Library.
3. Login to Canon 4025.
4. Select “EFI Print.”
5. Enter your 6 digit code.
6. Wait for the document to be queued.
7. Select email body/attachment.
8. Click print.
9. You can send your document from anywhere and it will be held in the cloud for 24 hours before it is deleted.

Use Windows Remote Assistance:

1. Click Start button
2. Type “msra.exe” in a Search programs and files box.
3. Select “Invite someone you trust to help you.”
4. Select “Use e-mail to send an invitation.”
5. Enter email address of user to send invitation.
6. Remote Helper will ask for “Connection Password.”
  a. 12 Character Code (i.e. 2XSM3Z6TY46V)

Set Default Programs:

1. Click Start button.
2. Select “Default Programs.”
3. Select “Set your default Programs.”
4. Wait for programs to populate screen.
5. Choose “Outlook.”
6. Select “Set this program as default.”
7. Click OK.
This will set Microsoft Outlook as a default email program. The same process can be used to set Microsoft Word or Word Perfect as a default word editing program.

Saving Files and Printing in the Law Library Computer Lab:

Security devices installed on the Law Library computers do not allow files to be permanently saved to the hard (C:) drive. Please save data only to flash drives or the home directory each student has on the NIU student server, found on the F: network drive. When you access the F: drive, you should see a folder with your z-number on it. This is your student home directory. To print in the lab, simply print as you normally would. If you encounter an error, click the "HP Laserjet" icon on the desktop. Choose a printer (A or B) and single- or double-sided pages (SS or DS), wait until the black screen closes and then print. If the printers in the lab are out of order, you can use EFI Printing as seen above (this will not count against your NIU student print quota). Or you can print to the Anywhere Printer on the north side of the hallway. Instructions are available on the NIU knowledge base (this will count against your quota).

Change or Reset Your Password:

Please visit the NIU DoIT website to change your password at any time. If you have problems, please call the DoIT helpdesk at (815) 753-8100 for assistance.

Get Wi-Fi & Off-Campus Network Access:

Email or call the DoIT helpdesk at (815) 753-8100 for help with getting access to NIU Wi-Fi on your laptop or mobile device. Please see the NIU DoIT website for instructions on getting VPN (off-campus) access.

Access Your Email:

You can access your NIU email at Student email will migrate to Exchange Online/Office 365 on May 31, 2016. For questions or assistance with email, go to the NIU DoIT student email page or call the helpdesk at (815) 753-8100.
