Clinic Requirements
Required Eligibility for Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 License
To enroll in the Civil Justice Clinic students must be eligible for an Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 License which requires:
- Completion of 54 Credit Hours;
- Approval of the Dean of the College of Law;
- Submission of Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 Application; and
- Approval of the Illinois Supreme Court.
Required Courses
The following courses are required to participate in the Civil Justice Clinic and Juvenile Justice Clinic:
- Introduction to Lawyering Skills - Course 720 (3 credits)
- Professional Responsibility - Course 735 (2 credits)
Although students may be allowed to take the above required courses concurrently with the clinic, by permission of the clinical professor, priority will be given to students who have already completed the required courses.

The following courses are recommended for participation in the Civil Justice Clinic:
- Evidence - Course 580 (4 credits)
- Family Law - Course 610 (3 credits)
- Trusts and Estates – Course 620 (3 credits)
- Trial Advocacy - Course 725 (3 credits)
