Professor Cain Presents to Rockford Housing Authority

On October 30, 2013, Clinical Associate Professor Paul J. Cain presented on the topic of “Criminal Backgrounds and Employers” to the Rockford, IL Housing Authority ReBuild program. Professor Cain discussed the impact of several federal and state laws affecting applying for employment when you have a criminal background including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Criminal Identification Act, the Illinois Human Rights Act and the Employment Record Disclosure Act. ReBuild is a four-month program with a classroom component to assist and equip participants with the skills and tools needed to become self-sufficient.
