Northern Illinois University Law to Welcome AALS President Rachel Moran

DeKalb, Ill.-- Dean Jennifer Rosato and the Northern Illinois University College of Law will host a reception for Professor Rachel Moran on February 26, 2010. Professor Moran, a renowned scholar and innovative law teacher, currently serves as President of the Association of American Law Schools.
Rachel F. Moran is the Robert D. and Leslie-Kay Raven Professor of Law at Berkeley Law School as well as a founding faculty member at the University of California at Irvine School of Law. In addition to her book Interracial Intimacy: The Regulation of Race and Romance, she has co-authored a leading text on Educational Policy and the Law (with Mark Yudof, Betsy Levin, and David Kirp) and an anthology of Race Law Stories (with Devon Carbado).
Professor Moran is the author of over fifty articles and book chapters. She has served as Chair of the Chicano/Latino Policy Project (now the Center for Latino Policy Research) and as Director of the Institute for the Study of Social Change. In 1995, Professor Moran received a Distinguished Teaching Award from the Berkeley campus. She has visited at Fordham University, the University of Miami, New York University, Stanford University, the University of California at Los Angeles, and the University of Texas at Austin.
Professor Moran will offer some brief remarks at 2 p.m. on February 26 in the Thurgood Marshall Gallery at the NIU College of Law, Swen Parson Hall. Following her remarks, she will be available for questions as part of a reception hosted by the law school.
