Illinois Appellate Court , Second District, to Convene and Hear Oral Arguments at NIU College of Law

DeKalb – Northern Illinois University College of Law is proud to announce that The State of Illinois Appellate Court for the Second District will convene and hear oral arguments in the Francis X. Riley Moot Court Room at the NIU College of Law in DeKalb on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Court will begin promptly at 10 a.m. and will hear the arguments on the following labor administrative review cases:

· Metropolitan Alliance of Police, Woodridge Police Sergeants Chapter No. 132 v. State of Illinois Labor Relations Board and the Village of Woodridge

· John A. Dowrick v. Village of Downers Grove, Phil Ruscetti, Fire Chief for the Village of Downers Grove, the Village of Downers Grove Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Keith Killacky, Richard Matthies, Commissioner Owens, and the Village of Downers Grove Firefighters Pension Fund

The courtroom will be closed for the duration of the proceedings; however, the arguments also can be observed through closed-circuit broadcast in the Chessick Center Classroom. Oral arguments will end at approximately 11 a.m., followed by an informal question-and-answer session. A reception will then be held in the Thurgood Marshall Gallery of Swen Parson Hall. These events are free and open to the public.
