Professor Jones Leads the Way on Prairie State Legal Services' 5K Team

Professor Robert Jones competed successfully at the 11th Annual Lincoln-Douglas 5K and Fun Run in Freeport, Illinois on August 3, 2013. Professor Jones was part of the team representing Prairie State Legal Services, which also included NIU Law alumnus Anthony Coon ('95). The team was the top finisher in the non-profit agency category. Professor Jones was also the winner of the males aged 45-49 group and came in 4th place overall with a time of 19 minutes, 14 seconds. An avid runner, Professor Jones is a yearly competitor at the NIU Law Race NIjUdicata: 5K Run/Walk & BBQ. Professor Jones was the winner in his age group and came in 7th overall at this year's run in April.
Jones Article Recognized Among Top Recent Work
Professor Robert Jones' article, Lessons From a Lost Constitution, has been identified as one of the best works of recent scholarship relating to courts law in a review published on May 31, 2013 in Jotwell: The Journal of Things We Like (Lots). Jotwell is an online journal sponsored by the University of Miami School of Law, in which contributor Sergio Campos highlights Professor Jones' article on James Madison and the Council of Revision.
Professor Robert Jones Quoted in Article on Supreme Court Health Care Decision
Professor Robert Jones was quoted in a June 28, 2012 article in the Naperville Sun, a Chicago Sun-Times publication. The article, penned by Susan Frick Carlman, explores reactions to the U.S. Supreme Court healthcare decision of June 28 among Naperville's local health care professionals and political leaders. Professor Robert Jones Named 2012 NIU Law Professor of the Year
Professor Robert Jones' energetic teaching style and personable nature both inside the classroom and out have made him a favorite among the NIU Law student body. For the third time since coming to NIU in 2007, he has been elected Professor of the Year; by the Classes of 2009, 2011, and this year by the Class of 2012.
Professor Jones teaches Constitutional Law, Conflict of Laws, Antitrust Law, and Evidence. He is the faculty advisor for the NIU Law Review, Environmental Law Society, and he is a frequent participant in debates hosted by various law student organizations. Professor Jones coaches student trial teams for the National Latino Law Student Association Moot Court and Frederick Douglass competitions. In addition, he serves as an instructor of Conflict of Laws for the Barbri bar review course in Illinois and Missouri. His competitive nature with students extends outside the classroom as he has participated in all three years of Race NIjUdicata, the annual NIU Law 5K Run/Walk, where he was the overall winner the first year.
