Dean Rosato Perea Featured in Suburban Life Magazine
Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea, honored in May with a 2014 Women of Distinction Award from Suburban Life Magazine, has been further recognized in a full-page profile detailing the award and her accomplishments in the magazine's August 2014 issue. The award honors 12 of the most remarkable women in Chicago’s western suburbs – for their contributions to their communities, professions and causes.
Dean Rosato Perea Presents at National Legal Conference
Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea presented at the American Bar Association Annual Meeting as part of a panel entitled "Bullyproof: The Impact of Bias and How It Leads to Bullying." The program took place on Friday, August 8th at the Sheraton Boston in Boston, MA. The panel was sponsored by the ABA Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Public Service Team, YLD Diversity Team, and the Commission on Disability Rights. The program received the ABA YLD Affilliate Diversity Award.

Dean Rosato Perea Chosen as a Woman of Distinction
Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea was selected as one of the first recipients of the 2014 Women of Distinction Awards by Suburban Life Magazine. Recognizing women who are leaders in their community, this is the first year the awards have been brought to the western suburbs of Chicago. Dean Rosato Perea was honored at a luncheon on Thursday, May 8 at the College of DuPage's Waterleaf Restaurant in Glen Ellyn, IL. A post-luncheon article was also published on May 14 highlighting a photo and quotes from each of the honorees.
Dean Rosato Perea Speaks at Scholarship Banquet
Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea gave the keynote speech for the Annual HLSA Scholarship Banquet, held at the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The event took place on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 6:30pm in the Arkansas Bar Center. The theme of the banquet was "A Call to Service."
Dean Rosato Perea Participates in Panel on Implicit Bias
Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea took part in a panel discussion on March 25, 2014 at the the Chicago Bar Association. The discussion included an overview of implicit/unconscious bias, how views on diversity and gender roles impact hiring and professional experiences of women and diverse attorneys, and best practices to overcome unconscious bias and empower success of diverse and women attorneys. NIU Law Alumni Council President Kenya Jenkins-Wright ('03) moderated the event.

Dean Rosato Perea Recognized with Distinguished Leadership Award by Illinois Secretary of State
Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea was presented with the Distinguished Leadership Award by Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White during the Secretary’s 2013 National Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. The award honored Dean Rosato Perea for her career in law and in legal education, her legacy as a professor and scholar, and her many leadership roles.
Dean Rosato Featured on Youth Symposium Panel
Dean Jennifer Rosato was a featured panelist at the Hispanic National Bar Association's Youth Symposium, part of the HNBA Annual Convention, on Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Denver, CO. She presented during the Luncheon Plenary, "Lunch with the Dean: The Future of Legal Education." During this session, she participated on a panel with other Deans discussing the current challenges in legal education.
Dean Rosato Presents at Illinois Attorney General's Office
Dean Jennifer Rosato made a presentation to the Illinois Attorney General's Office (OAG) in Chicago, IL as part of their in-house professional development program on August 8, 2013. Dean Rosato presented "With Liberty and Justice for All: How to Acknowledge and Address Unconscious Perceptions in the Justice System." Her program dealt with how implicit bias affects professional relationships and, more importantly, the administration of justice on a number of levels. The program assisted participants to understand the underlying social science related to identifying and conceptualizing bias, acknowledge these unconscious perceptions, and consider strategies to diminish organizational and personal bias.
Dean Rosato Presents at the AALS New Law Teachers Conference
Dean Jennifer Rosato presented at the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) New Law Teachers Conference from June 21-22, 2013 in Washington, D.C. Dean Rosato, who has participated in the conference frequently since joining the academy in 1990, served as Chair of the planning committee for the 2014 New Law Teachers Conference.

Dean Jennifer Rosato was honored with a 2013 Vanguard Award from the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois at the Standard Club in Chicago. The Vanguard Award recognizes lawyers, judges and institutions who champion diversity, making the law and the legal profession more accessible to and reflective of the community at-large.

Dean Rosato Receives a 2012 Impresa Award
Dean Jennifer Rosato has been awarded the 2012 Impresa Award by the Women's Division of the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans. The award was presented during a luncheon at the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois on August 18, 2012. Dean Rosato was selected for her visionary leadership as Dean of the NIU College of Law. The Impresa Award was created in 1993 to honor women from the Chicago Italian-American community who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments during their professional careers.
