Steven A. Sibo

Steven A. Sibo

About Steven: I tend to think of myself as a diligent worker and a people-oriented professional. My previous experience with several different organizations often involved working with my colleagues to get things accomplished. My colleagues here at NIU are wonderful friends and professionals from whom I thoroughly enjoy learning as we all continue our development in our legal endeavors.

Previous Legal and/or Professional Experience: I currently do not have much legal experience other than working as a Research Assistant; however, prior to coming to NIU, I have worked for several companies. I have worked in retail, pharmaceuticals, commercial refrigeration, and telecommunications. I have previously assumed regional and national sales manager responsibilities, and I realized how the law plays a significant role in how companies operate. At that moment, I decided I was returning to academia to pursue both a law degree and an MBA, which is halfway completed.

What activities are you involved in? I am an active member of NIU College of Law’s Latino/a Law Student Association. I will be participating in NLLSA’s national moot court competition this September, and I’m looking forward to the experience. I am a member of Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, and I am an active member of our Student Bar Association. I am a huge football fan, and when I want to get out and relax, I love to fish.

What do you like most about being at NIU Law? I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the positive atmosphere at NIU’s College of Law. In my first year, I felt like I really got to know almost all of the faculty, staff, and students, because of how welcoming everyone was when I came in with my knees shaking. Their reassurances made my learning experience quite positive, and I found my learning curve accelerated exponentially while studying in the NIU College of Law environment.
