Megan Ditzler
About Megan: I have a master’s degree in political science from SIU. I really love constitutional law, especially civil rights and liberties. I would love to work with the ACLU in the future.
Previous Legal and/or Professional Experience: While I was in graduate school, I worked for the Secretary of State’s Office. I worked on the genealogy documenting service called IRAD, which is an open service available to everyone. I got to meet a lot of interesting people who were interested in genealogy. I often worked with legal records and with attorneys researching for cases.
What activities are you involved in? I’ve played the piano since I was four years old. At SIU, I was also active in the Pre-Law Society, Phi Alpha Delta, where I often volunteered. I have also worked on many political campaigns, such as Shelia Simon’s campaign for mayor of Carbondale. This year, I plan on being in the Women’s Law Caucus and the Gay-Straight Alliance on campus.
Why did you choose NIU Law? I liked the DeKalb area, and it felt like familiar territory. I found campus to be very quiet and easy to navigate, especially the law school. Everyone is very friendly and helpful here.
