Jake Beechy
About Jake: I came to law school directly out of college, where I was on the wrestling team for all four years. I enjoy watching sports, and I am an avid reader.
Previous Legal and/or Professional Experience: My first job in the legal field was at the Cook County State’s Attorney. I held this job after my sophomore year of college, and at that point I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to go into a legal career. After my first summer there, however, I knew that the law was what I wanted to do with my life. While there, I would assist the attorneys with various matters, but the best part was being able to sit in on trials, watching how the lawyers could come up with such detailed defenses and arguments.
What do you like the most about being at NIU Law? My favorite part of NIU Law is the atmosphere: everyone wants to see me succeed. There is never a moment where I do not have someone to turn to who would help me out with whatever I need.
