Gianna Venticinque

Gianna Venticinque

About Gianna: I want to stay in the Chicago area and practice criminal Law. I had an undergraduate professor who encouraged me to explore going to law school so I looked into it and decided it was right for me. My sister goes to ICU, my dad is a photographer, and in my free time I like to shop, work out, cook, and bake.

Previous Legal and/or Professional Experience:  As part of my capstone project I completed a 6-month internship with the United States Federal Marshals. I didn’t like the knocking-down-doors part but I loved the researching and helping with the sex offender checks. That internship helped spark my interest in criminal law and it inspired me to take Criminal Procedure.

Why did you choose NIU Law? Since I am paying for my own law school education, cost of attendance weighed heavily into my decision. I considered other schools and going to other states, but ultimately found that NIU Law would give me the best education for my money and would help me establish contacts in the Chicagoland area, where I hope to practice.

What activities do you want to be involved in? I am really interested in getting involved with the Criminal Law Society, and I also am trying to secure a position to be the representative for the Illinois Student Bar Association.

This interview was conducted in Fall 2013.
