Liz Rodriguez Lanzhammer
About Liz: I got married during my 1L year and my husband and I have since bought a home together in Madison, Wisconsin. I have an older sister who is pursuing acting in Los Angeles, and I have a 13-year-old brother. I will be graduating in December and then taking the Wisconsin bar in February and the Illinois bar in July.
Previous Legal and/or Professional Experience: Before law school, I worked at two different law firms: one that specialized in real estate and one that specialized in tax law. I was also an Americorps volunteer. Since being at NIU Law, I have worked for NIU Law Alumna Alicia Oliver Leonard as a research assistant, participated in the Huskie Externship (a legal internship in the athletic department of NIU), and most recently this summer, I worked for Judge Alan White in Colombia County, Wisconsin as a judicial clerk.
What activities are you involved in? Last year I was the Vice President of the Latino Law Student Association, of which I am the 3L Advisor this year. I served as the Public Interest Law Society Secretary last year, and I am a Women’s Law Caucus mentor.
Why did you choose NIU Law? Affordability, a reputation for quality education, and small class sizes were the main attributes that drew me to NIU Law.
