NIU offers an accelerated law program for high-achieving students. This unique opportunity reduces by one year the time needed for students to complete an undergraduate degree in Political Science, Sociology or Engineering, followed by a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, thus saving both time and money. Full descriptions of the three programs appear below.
The accelerated J.D. program, from start to finish, will typically take six years to complete instead of the normal seven.
Interested students can apply to the College of Law during their junior year. Students accepted to the accelerated J.D. program begin first-year law classes their senior year.
Both current NIU undergraduate students and transfer students are eligible to participate in the Accelerated Law Degree program.
