Biography

J. Matthew Pfeiffer is a partner with the law firm of Fuchs & Roselli, Ltd., in Chicago and Wheaton, Illinois. Throughout his career, he has handled a broad range of civil litigation matters for individuals and small- to medium-size business entities in numerous state and federal courts as well as in binding arbitration and mediation proceedings. Mr. Pfeiffer concentrates his practice in commercial litigation; business torts; creditors’ rights, including commercial and personal loan enforcement, corporate and personal bankruptcies, non-bankruptcy workouts, and reorganizations; contested estates; construction law; employment disputes; and appellate advocacy. He received his B.S. from Purdue University and his J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law.

Mr. Pfeiffer is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association. Most recently, he has served on ISBA’s Civil Practice and Procedure Section Council for the past several years; was the moderator of a panel addressing electronic evidence issues at the prestigious 2011 Allerton Conference; is a member of the Corporation, Securities, and Business Law Section Council; and is a member of the ISBA Assembly, the supreme policy-making body of this organization.

Mr. Pfeiffer also has maintained several positions of leadership within the DuPage County Bar Association. He is a past Chair of the Professional Responsibility Committee, the Business Law Committee, and the Law Practice Management Committee. As a member of its Planning Committee, Mr. Pfeiffer also has worked toward the development of a strategic long-term business plan for the DCBA alongside some of the most prominent attorneys in the region. Mr. Pfeiffer is a past recipient of the Board of Directors Award from the DCBA for outstanding service to this organization.

Mr. Pfeiffer also has served as a speaker at various seminars regarding civil practice and has had a number of articles published through both the ISBA and the DCBA pertaining to various civil litigation topics.

In addition to his commitments to the aforementioned professional organizations, Mr. Pfeiffer presently holds the office of President of the Alumni Council for Northern Illinois University College of Law and is a member of its Board of Visitors. He is also rated “AV® Preeminent™ ” by Martindale-Hubbell, a testament to the fact that his peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence.
