Robert K. Downs is a partner in the firm of Downs Law Offices, P.C. He has been "AV" rated by Martindale-Hubble and admitted to the Florida and Illinois bars, the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Downs has a long and storied history of public service, as well as honors for his legal and political accomplishments.
Robert was a State Representative in the 79th Illinois General Assembly. He is a Justice in the Chicago Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. Mr. Downs served as President of the Illinois State Bar Association from 2005-2006 and was a member of its Board of Governors from 1992-2002; he also chaired the Family Law Section Council of the ISBA from 1996-1997. Robert was a member and chair and served on the Matrimonial Law Committee for the Chicago Bar Association. He sat on the Board of Managers for the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers from 1995-2000. Mr. Downs is a member of the Justinian Society of Lawyers for the DuPage County and West Suburban Bar Associations, was a member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates from 2004-2007, and currently sits on the National Conference of Bar Presidents Membership Committee.
Robert received the Grinnell College Distinguished Alumni Award in 1998 and the American Bar Association Pro Bono Service Award in 1995; he has also been named an Illinois Super Lawyer.
Robert earned a B.S. degree from Grinnell College in 1956 and his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in 1965.
