You may have received an e-mail with the following title: "Confirm Your Email." It states that NIU is attempting to validate your GroupWise account information and asks you to click on a link to do so. This e-mail is SPAM and an information phishing attempt. It appears to be from NIU Support and has a very good looking GroupWise log-in screen. It is a hoax. DO NOT PROVIDE INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO THIS E-MAIL. No NIU systems have been compromised as relates to this e-mail - it is purely a phishing attempt.
If you responded to this e-mail and provided account information, change your GroupWise password immediately. If you need help, contact the Helpdesk at 753-8100. If you have any type of personal or financial account information in your GroupWise e-mail box (you should not), monitor those accounts for suspicious activity and take action as appropriate.
No legitimate source will ever solicit account and password information in this manner. This is a very typical method of exploiting people via e-mail
