Web & Application Development

Our Portfolio

Campus Web Services can develop database-driven, dynamic web-based applications for your organization. We have designed and developed dozens of custom web applications and currently host over 300 sites. Here are some examples of the web applications that we have developed. Some are very large, some quite small, and many are somewhere in between.

  • Event Registration System

Built initially for use by our Faculty Development and Instructional Design Center, this Event Registartion System is a highly customizable and flexible application which enables departments to build and manage events and registrations from start to finish.  Included in the applicaiton are RSS feeds, customizable messaging, attendance sheets, and reporting modules.

  • NIU Online Application

The NIU Online Application allows prospective students to apply online for undergraduate and graduate programs at NIU.  Working with closely with our admissions departments, the application was built to meet NIU's specific requirements.  Interfaces were built to integrate and automate much of the data exchange between other enterprise systems on campus.

  • NIU Mobile Apps

Many of the mobile apps featured within NIU Mobile were designed and built in-house.  The Places app allows users to access menus and locations for dining halls, the Holmes Student Center, and local Huskie Bucks merchants.  The Transit app shows bus locations in real time so that users can find a bus when needed.  And the e-suds app pulls information from our laundry locations to let users know when your load is complete or when washers and dryers are available.

  • Sigma Tau Delta

Sigma Tau Delta's 'Write Away' is an online membership application which enables chapters to manage their membership lists and use a host of other functions.  Within this system, chapters can enroll new members, make membership payments, modify chapter and member information, and update the chapter directory.
  • Engagement & Outreach Activities

This searchable database provides the NIU community with a means to explore, acknowledge, and locate the learning opportunities, experts, and resources made possible through regional, national, and global collaborations with partners in education, community agencies, business, and industrypartnerships.  The goals are to ensure that all students have access to “high impact” educational opportunities and to assist NIU faculty and staff and community members in building mutually beneficial research and educational initiatives that enhance the vitality of our region.

  • Scholarship Search

This application provides students with granular scholarship searching capabilities. A secure web-based administrative console allows administrators to manage the individual scholarship details online.
  • CCWE

A secure web-based application that helps coordinate and keep track of the information on approximately 51,000 children who are in or have been in the care of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the coordinated effort to ensure their academic success.
  • Experts Guide

A web-based ASP.Net application used to search for NIU experts who are frequently consulted by local, regional and national media to comment on matters that are making headlines. The application allows users to search for experts by various means.  The application also contains a set of secure administrative pages that allow the members of the NIU faculty and staff to update their information on the system online.
  • Task Tracker

A secure web-based ASP.Net application used internally by some NIU departments to track tasks and time on a project. The application contains tools for users, managers and administrators to enter and manage time, produce highly customizable reports, and manage systems, projects and users. The application also uses the service-oriented model to offer synchronization support for third-party task-tracking applications, such as Microsoft Project.
