Installing a NIU Security Certificate for Mozilla/Firefox

There are currently two NIU Security certificates being used by different web-based applications. Users are advised to install both. This will prevent warning messages from being displayed as you use NIU web-based applications requiring authentication.

Since browsers do not share data, users must install the certificates into each browser application. For example, a certificate installed into Internet Explorer will not work for Mozilla and vice-versa.

Note that actual screens may be drawn differently or contain other information, depending upon your operating system and the certificate being installed.

To install a NIU Security Certificate for Mozilla:

  1. Download the appropriate NIU Security Certificate by selecting from the following:
    • NIUCA - This Security Certificate is primarily used by older (implemented before December 2003) web applications.
    • NIUCA2 - This Security Certificate is primarily used by newer (implemented after December 2003) web applications.
  2. A Downloading Certificate window will open.
  3. On the Downloading Certificate window, select the checkbox for "Trust this CA to identify web sites " and then select "OK."

  4. Close and restart the browser.
  5. The security certificate is now installed. If necessary, return to step #1 and install any certificates that have not yet been installed.
