Mailing List Configuration Default Settings
Mailing lists are set up with default settings. A complete listing of all the default settings is at List Administrator Information.
New lists are configured to:
- allow the list to be publicly listed on the list server.
- allow public subscriptions to the list. This means anyone with a valid e-mail address can subscribe to your list.
- add new members as unmoderated members. This means anyone who is subscribed may post messages to the list.
- not allow non-members to post to the list. Non-members' messages will be auto-rejected.
Lists used for announcements or that need to restrict memberships need to be configured. ITS strongly recommends that list administrators review all list configuration options to ensure their list is configured to meet their individual needs.
