GroupWise Known Issues

CallPilot (voicemail) Desktop client integration with GroupWise breaks when installing a new version of the GroupWise client

ITS recommends that you first uninstall the CallPilot Desktop client via Add/Remove programs, then upgrade to the GW 7.0.3 client, and finally install the newest CallPilot Desktop client found at http://mycallpilot.niu.edu > Login > CallPilot Features > Downloads.

If you find that the CallPilot Desktop integration to GW still doesn't function after performing the above steps, you will need to perform the following steps:

From Add/Remove Programs uninstall Nortel Callpilot

  • Delete any of the following existing folders: C:\Program Files\Nortel\Callpilot
  • Run REGEDIT and delete any of the following existing registry keys
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Nortel\Callpilot
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ Nortel\Callpilot
  • Reboot your PC
  • Upgrade your GW client to 7.0.3
  • Install the latest version of CallPilot

D107 errors appear with GW 7.0.2 client

The occurrence of D107 errors in the previous GW 7.0.2hp client are well documented by Novell.  This issue has been fixed in the *current* ITS version of GW 7.0.3.  The resolution to this issue is to upgrade to the current ITS version of GroupWise

*ITS recommends that you consult your Lan Administrator before attempting to install any software on your NIU computer.

Palm connecting software (Synching) for smart devices

Palm Software may need to be re-installed *after* upgrading your GroupWise client. This has been a known issue for some time. Any Plug-In application that is integrated with your e-mail client may be affected by an upgrade to your e-mail client. An example of this would be the Nortel CallPilot plug-in for voicemail.

Upgrading via the Setup IP file fails to complete

ITS recommends running the Setup IP file installation again, as this usually works to resolve the unsuccessful original attempt. The unsuccessful original attempt via this method is usually caused by a *network interruption* and thus running this process again has shown to resolve the vast majority of these issues. If running the Setup IP file installation won't complete after several attempts, ITS recommends using the CD ISO Image which can also be burned to a CD for manually upgrading multiple workstations. The CD ISO Image contains full versions of all the current, valid GW clients ITS offers: Windows, Mac, and Linux.
