NIU Wi-Fi uses 802.11bgn for wireless access points. Most devices with Wi-Fi certification will connect automatically.
The wireless card must be configured to use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), which is the typical default.
Utilities built in to the operating system or provided with the card can associate the wireless adapter to an access point. These are standard on most devices.
INTEL 3945 Chipset and RealTek 8185 Restriction - There is a known issue with the Intel 3945 wireless card chipset and the RealTek 8185 not working properly with some of NIU's wireless access points. Access points located in the Holmes Student Center may not work with the Intel 3945 chipset or the RealTek 8185.
For our customers who require wireless connectivity in HSC, we suggest they invest in a wireless USB adapter available from many major electronics stores, specifically with the Broadcom chipset.
