Vibe

Vibe

Vibe is a secure place for collaboration on projects and processes. It can be accessed anywhere from any device connected to the Internet. NIU faculty and staff automatically have a Vibe account with 5GB of storage.

Install Vibe on your computer or device

Access your Vibe account at vibe.niu.edu. Log in with your AccountID and password.

If non-employees (students, retirees, and individuals with a temporary AccountID) need access, go to itsforms.niu.edu > Vibe to request access.

My Workspace

By default, your account has a standard set of folders.  You can create more folders.

  • Discussion: Users create and reply to entries
  • Blog: Entire entries are displayed in reverse chronological order. Blogs are typically posts by an individual or small group of authors. The blog folder can be configured so that a large group can make comments on entries.
  • Calendar: Post events or other information by date.
  • Guestbook: Visitors can "sign," when they visit a user's Personal Workspace. Visitors can leave comments, which are displayed in reverse chronological order.
  • Files: files can be automatically locked, edited-in-place, then unlocked, creating a new version of the file. Comments or discussions can be posted about individual files.
  • Milestones: Summarize activity in one or more Task folders.
  • Photo Album: Thumbnails of files.
  • Surveys: Store surveys and their summaries.
  • Tasks: Tasks and a summary of their priority and status.

Create a Personal Workspace for team projects

A Personal Workspace is owned by one person and can be shared with a team.  The owner can delete it when it is no longer needed, and it is automatically deleted when the owner is removed from Vibe.

Organizational Workspaces

Organizational Workspaces are not tied to one individual's account.  Typical uses are departmental intranets and long-term project management.  A site administrator delegates access for the team.

Go to itsforms.niu.edu > Vibe to request an organizational workspace.
