AccountID / Z-ID & Password

When you leave NIU

  • 400 days after graduation
  • 10 days after you withdraw, discontinue or have no status 
  • 255 days after you are dismissed 

your access to the following NIU network resources will expire:

  • ITS computer labs
  • your Home (H:) directory
  • NIU wireless

If you graduated from NIU you will be able to keep your NIU e-mail account indefinitely.

If you left the university without graduating, your NIU e-mail account and your Home (H:) directory will be removed per the above schedule. If you have anything on an NIU resource that you want to keep, download it to external media before your access is canceled.

ALL former students will have access to MyNIU indefinitely for unofficial transcripts, bill payments, etc.  If you need assistance resetting your Z-ID password for MyNIU access, contact the ITS Helpdesk at 815-753-8100.
