
Information Technology Services provides information technologies that support teaching and learning, administration, and outreach. ITS manages NIU's IT infrastructure and services including computer operations, information management and security, telecommunications, and the NIU network.
The Computing Facilities Advisory Committee advises in matters of computing and network planning and priorities.

NIUNet is an ultra-fast fiber-optic network that connects schools, libraries, hospitals and municipalities to NIU broadband services. It provides Internet 2 connectivity and connectivity to the federal research labs in northern Illinois, greatly increasing the capacity for research and collaboration.

The ITS Helpdesk provides customer support 24/7/365 to the NIU community. It also monitors the applications running on ITS servers and contacts technicians when issues arise.
The ITS Contact Center is located in the Telecommunications building, TS114. It provides face-to-face IT support service to students, faculty and staff, retirees, and prospective students visiting campus.
