All of us in the Division of International Programs look forward to meeting you when you come to campus for orientation and for your first semester at NIU.

Whether you are transferring to Northern Illinois from another University within the United States, or coming to the United States for the first time as a student, you will be making a transition. The staff of the International Student and Faculty Office are already working to help you make that transition as smooth as it can be.

The purpose of this Guide for International Students is to provide you with useful information as you prepare to come to NIU and to answer as many of your questions as possible at this point. We will answer additional questions and provide more information during Orientation Week.

Again, congratulations on your admission, and best wishes for every success in your academic career at Northern Illinois University."
