On September 2, 2008, the Division of International Programs and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies welcomed a distinguished NIU alumnus, Dr. Mohd Ezani Mat Hassan, back to campus for a brief visit. Dr. Ezani is currently Associate Professor of Operations Management at the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia). He and a colleague, Prof. Ismail Bakar from the Institut Islam Hadhari at the National University, met with Dr. Jim Collins, new Director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, to discuss joint research and the exchange of scholars and students. At International Programs they met with Associate Provost Deb Pierce and Prof. Eric Jones of NIU's Department of History to review a possible Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
