InSET works closely with the Center for Nanoscale Materials at Argonne National Laboratory in a cooperative effort to both research new nano materials and publish on those materials. These efforts include the structural study of copper and manganese oxides using x-ray and neutron diffraction while also using resistivity, magnetization, magnetoresistive and thermogravimetric measurements. Dr. Omar Chmaissem also uses a pulsed laser deposition system and x-ray analysis in identifying newly synthesized materials. In addition, Dr. Yasuo Ito's STM and TEM electron microscopes scan materials at the 0.5nm resolution allowing for a greater amount of detail at the atomic level.
