In the Classroom
Classroom Assessments and Student Work
Over 900 classroom assessments with scoring rubrics that measure students’ progress toward
the Learning Standards have been developed by Illinois educators. All assessments are
linked directly to standards and to performance descriptors. These materials also contain
sample student work to illustrate the four performance levels. To locate these instructional
materials, click on Assessments and Descriptors in any subject area listed below.
For an explanation of how to use these tools, see the Teachers’ Guide at
http://www.isbe.net/ils/html/teacher_guide.htm.
The IIRC contains hot links to goals, standards, performance descriptors, and classroom assessments for all subject areas developed by the Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois teachers. You can directly access the goals and learning standards, descriptors and assessments by subject area, click on the links below. Alternately, you can also link to these materials at http://www.isbe.net/ils.

Lesson Plans and Student Work
The Illinois Standards-aligned Classroom project at ISBE created and tested classroom activities aligned with the Learning Standards for all subjects. These activities are hot-linked to the standards and benchmarks through a web resource that requires some navigating. To access the resource, click on the link below, then search the standards by grade level, by learning area, or by keyword, then click "go."
The subject and area you have selected will open, showing you the standards and related benchmarks. Each benchmark has an associated hot-linked number. Clicking on any benchmark number will access an array of lesson plans. This site is definitely worth checking out. Disclaimer – some of the lesson plan links are several years old, and are no longer active, but most are. The lesson plans and student work site is http://209.70.46.75/vision/standards/standards_search.asp
More Classroom Activities, Learning Activities, and Sample Student Work
More information on instructional activities is available at http://206.166.105.86/knowledge/standards_resources.asp. This site has lots of specific resources that are of value in the classroom including, for each subject area, benchmarks, sample learning activities, and sample student work. The site also provides external web links connecting with instructional units, lesson plans, and more. The main link (above) gives you access to the general list of resources, but for more specific information click below for direct connection to each subject area (again, with benchmarks, sample learning activities, sample student work, and web links):
In addition, the main link also gives these same resources for the other learning areas: Fine Arts, Listening, Speaking and Processing Information Resources, Physical Development, and Foreign Language. Definitely worth checking out!
