Economics is the study of choice, and making good choices makes good citizens. Here's an opportunity for elementary school teachers to enhance their curriculum plans for next year by learning basic economics concepts and incorporating them in math, language arts, social studies and science lessons.
ECON 702, Strategies for Teaching Economics in the Elementary Classroom, is a three-graduate hour course meeting in June at South Suburban College's extension site at 16633 S. Kilbourne in Oak Forest. Classes meet from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. June 9 - 13 and June 16 - 19.
Scholarships are available to teachers who enroll and complete the course successfully. In addition, each participant will receive a complimentary copy of Virtual Economics 3.0 interactive CD-Rom, with more than 1200 economics lessons. This resource is valued at $99.95. Note: Illinois teachers are eligible for only one complimentary copy of Virtual Economics 3.0.
