International Programs

Training of Writers Program

The Training of Writers Program provides an opportunity for U.S. teachers to work with teachers from other countries on the development of economic education lessons.  Part of the NCEE EconomicsInternational® Program, the Training of Writers program is conducted once a year, generally in the fall semester.  U.S. teacher participants spend 10-12 days with colleagues from several other countries, meeting in one of the international countries for a series of professional development workshops that train participants on curriculum writing skills.  Following the program, participants work in teams to develop an economics lesson plan that uses an active-learning approach and is appropriate for use in their respective countries.  Feedback is provided and the U.S. faculty work with the writers on improving their lessons for publication.

NCEE seeks outstanding economic educators (including classroom teachers) who have the commitment and support to continue developing high-quality economic education instructional materials after completing this program.  Successful applicants must demonstrate a commitment to economic education and to working with their state Council and/or Center for Economic Education.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to obtain letters of recommendation from the Director of their Center for Economic Education. The Center web page helps identify a school's Center and gives complete contact information.

This program is usually offered once a year, and is dependent on funding. Check back here or go to the National Council on Economic Education web site for the most up-to-date information on upcoming Training of Writers programs.
