Financing Your Future

Petnomics: The Purr-fect Economics Primer

Looking for curriculum materials incorporated around a pet theme?  Consider Petonomics, the K-3 material from the Longwood University Center for Economic Education.  Examples of topics include:

Risky Business DVD - High School

Risky Business:  What Every Teenager Needs to Know About Living Smart is a comprehensive life skills program designed for teens, their teachers, parents and mentors.  This DVD program consists of four 15-20 minute videos each with three corresponding lesson plans that show students how sound decision making can empower people and provide greater opportunities in the future.

PBS - A wealth of resources!

Conferences

"Economic Bubbles: Housing, Stocks and other Financial Manias"

Housing, Stocks and other Financial Manias” is the topic for this spring’s Illinois Association of School Economics Teachers (IASET) Conference.  The featured speakers will be Gail Jarvis Marks, personal finance columnist from the Chicago Tribune; Tom Corfman, senior real estate reporter from Crain’s Chicago Business; and a Federal Reserve economist yet to be announced.  The conference scheduled for Friday, May 4, 2007 will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.  For complete information and to register, contact Sheryl Szot Gallaher at s-gallaher@govst.edu or 708.534.4926.

2007 Annual Conference of NCEE/ NAEE/ GATE

Save the Date!  October 3-6 marks the date for the 2007 Annual Conference of the National Council on Economic Education/ National Association of Economic Educators/ Global Association of Teachers of Economics. The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Denver.  This is the largest nationwide conference focusing on K-12 economic education featuring the latest in curriculum development, professional development workshop sessions, and unique networking opportunities for economic educators at all levels. Requests for proposals and registration information is available at www.ncee.net/conference/ . The deadline for proposals is February 9.

2007 Youth Entrepreneurship Conference
