Cabrera Sponsorship Makes SMG FREE!

New sponsorship from Cabrera Capital Markets, Inc., current sponsor of The Stock Market Game™ (SMG) program spring semester for the City of Chicago, will make this exciting program available FREE to all schools in Illinois!  Along with sponsorship from A. G. Edwards (underwriting the program in southern Illinois); and sponsorships from HSBC (funding Chicago schools in the Fall semester) and the Chicago Tribune News in Education program (providing the newspaper without cost plus a general support grant), the SMG program will now be available to all schools in Illinois without any team fee costs.

Cabrera is also sponsoring two new awards which will provide exciting trips to the top high school and top elementary teams each semester.  The Cabrera Statewide Awards will be granted for the first time at the end of the Spring 2007 sessions.

Martin Cabrera, President and owner of Cabrera Capital Markets, Inc., is a member of the ICEE Board of Trustees.  But, he is also a “product” of The Stock Market Game.  His participation in the SMG program as part of his senior year economics course changed his career plans.  He went on to major in finance at Northern Illinois University, started his career as a broker for another company, and within a few short years had established his own firm.  Thus, it was the Council’s “Stock Market Game” program that prompted Martin to pursue his investment banking career and set him on the path to success that he follows to this day.  Today, Cabrera Capital Markets, Inc., is one of the premier investment banking and institutional brokerage firms in the nation.   Martin has shared that success through his generous support of the Council and its SMG programs.
