"The Economics of Sin Taxes"
This year’s IASET Spring Conference will address the issue
of taxes – specifically Sin Taxes, those pesky excise taxes
on items such as tobacco, liquor and gambling. How do these taxes
impact your community? How do they affect business? How can you
use these issues to help your students better understand the taxes
that they will soon be paying?
Plan to attend and learn:
- How taxing policies influence various industries
- If Sin Taxes are efficient means of revenue generation
- Instructional Strategies
Take home teaching materials and ideas! The material
is relevant for econ, social studies, business and consumer classes.
In addition, state standards in math and language arts will be
addressed in the application of statistics and reading for information.
