ICEE is a partnership of leaders from business, labor, agriculture, education, and government, dedicated to increasing economic literacy in Illinois.  We work toward that end with the leadership of a Governing Board and a Board of Trustees.

New Board Members

Illinois Council on Economic Education would like to welcome the newest members of our Board of Trustees. We look forward to working with these individuals in promoting economic and financial literacy education to K-12 teachers and their students throughout the state of Illinois.

Retiring Board Members  

The dedication and support given by the members of our Governing Board and Board of Trustees allows ICEE to provide invaluable services to the educators who brighten the financial futures of our youth with an applicable real life education.  We extend our appreciation to each of the following individuals who have recently concluded their terms on one of our Boards.

The Governing Board of ICEE is comprised of chairpersons, chief executives and presidents of major institutions in Illinois.  These include representatives from business and industry, labor, agribusiness and education, as well as professional services and association management.

The Board of Trustees of ICEE is comprised of selected business, corporate, and institutional leaders in Illinois from industry, agriculture, finance, professional services, education, and labor.  The operational activities and authority of the Trustees are vested in the Trustee Executive Committee and executed by the President.

Board Spotlight - Joseph M. Guinan

Joseph Guinan is the Founder and CEO/Chairman of Advantage Futures, a Chicago-based Futures Commission Merchant and Securities Broker/Dealer.  Prior to Advantage Futures, he managed the global futures business for The Fuji Bank, Ltd for eight years. Mr. Guinan has over 25 years of industry experience and is a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade.  He holds both BA and MBA degrees from Columbia University. 

Mr. Guinan’s philanthropic activities include serving on the Board of Advisors of the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary and Chairman Elect of the Governing Board of the Illinois Council on Economic Education (ICEE). He also serves on the boards of Trinity Irish Dancers, Bay Harbor Yacht Club and the Vietnam Survivors Memorial.

In service to ICEE, Mr. Guinan is also Chairman of the Marketing Committee as well as the American Dream Committee.  The American Dream is a dinner fundraiser set to take place on April 24, 2007 at the Art Institute of Chicago.  The goals of the American Dream are to raise funds to support the Council’s programs and to raise awareness for economic and financial literacy education within Illinois.
 
Mr. Guinan has been a member of the ICEE Governing Board since 2002 and will be taking on the role of Governing Board Chair following the March 2008 Annual Meeting.

Mr. Guinan, his wife Allison, and their three children, Joe, Mary Kate and Gena, reside in the Chicago suburb of River Forest.
