IASET Fall Conference “Trucks, Trains, and Automobiles” is scheduled to take place at the FED on Friday, November 10th.  This fall, the IASET conference schedule is built to address the foreign impact of the auto industry as well as global competition and its impact on auto workers.  Download the program brochure and registration form.

Fall Saturday Series at UIC-CEE featuring the curriculum Mathematics and Economics:  Connections for Life - grades 3-5.  The curriculum piece answers the question:  Why do I have to learn this stuff?  by using real world economics and personal finance applications to create a set of hands on dynamic mathematics lessons for grades 3-5.  Future Saturday series dates include October 28, and Dec 9, 2006. Coming to a computer lab near you!   A teacher workshop featuring the all NEW Virtual Economics 3.0 CD on Friday, January 5, 2007 in conjunction with the Annual Conference of the American Economic Association (AEA) scheduled to take place January 5-7, 2007 in Chicago. Energy, Economics and the Environment – Case Studies and Teaching Activities for Elementary School - Revised

Designed for the upper elementary student, these meaningful activities help to build the skills and knowledge students need as they examine hot-topic energy and environmental issues.  This curriculum piece gives teachers the tools needed to challenge students to analyze energy and environment issues from an economic perspective.

Energy, Economics and the Environment - Case Studies and Teaching Activities for High School - Revised

Designed for the 9-12 grades, this curriculum provides teachers and students with a conceptual framework for analyzing energy and environmental issues and how they relate to economics.  Lessons and activities include basic economics, the application of a decision-making model, skill application across several areas of the curriculum, and the integration and use of several resources in the community.

Risky Business DVD - High School

Risky Business:  What Every Teenager Needs to Know About Living Smart is a comprehensive life skills program designed for teens, their teachers, parents and mentors.  This DVD program consists of four 15-20 minute videos each with three corresponding lesson plans that show students how sound decision making can empower people and provide greater opportunities in the future.

Focus: Globalization - High School

Designed for use in the high school classroom, Focus:  Globalization addresses the challenge of teaching students about the increasingly controversial subject of globalization.  This curriculum piece provides 12 classroom- ready lessons that feature the student-centered active –learning approach.

Teaching Economics Using Children's Literature

This interdisciplinary curriculum guide helps the K-5 teacher introduce students to economics using popular children’s stories.  The 21 lessons are based on specific stories including The Giving Tree, A Chair for Mother, From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil Frankweiler, Island of the Blue Dolphins, and many more!  Includes annotated bibliography of suggested titles.
